Your Step-By-Step Skincare Routine for Sensitive Skin

Finding the right skincare routine when you have sensitive skin can be tricky. You know you need to moisturise to stop your skin from drying out but putting too many different products on your face can cause further irritation. But by keeping things simple and picking the right products, you can have a tailor-made face routine that works for your skin type.  

 

Your Morning Routine  

Your morning routine should avoid scrubbing and focus on calming and refreshing skin ready for the day ahead. For this you’re going to need just three products: a cleanser, a toner and a moisturiser.  

Step 1: Cleanse Your Skin Using a Sensitive Cleanser  

Use a creamy cleanser to wipe away any residule make-up or grease from the night before. It’s best to use one that doesn’t need to be removed with water as this can trigger redness and inflame sensitive areas. Instead, opt for something like Nota Bene’s organic bergamot & chamomile cleanser that can be gently applied and wiped off using a warm muslin cloth 

Step 2: Apply a Sensitive Toner  

A good toner is an essential part of a sensitive face routine as it cools and hydrates skin making sure it doesn’t dry out throughout the day. It also refreshes dull or tired skin by rejuvenating the tissue. This can help prevent signs of aging.

Step 4 (2-3 times a week): Exfoliate Gently  

Exfoliating sensitive skin can seem daunting as it's more abrasive than the other steps in this guide. But it’s still essential to remove dead skin cells so your skin feels silky smooth. This step should be added in after you’ve used your cleanser. Simple apply the exfoliator to damp skin and softly massage it in circles all over your face. Then remove it with a warm, damp muslin cloth and finish the routine as normal by toning and moisturising.
